An Introduction

A two term course for learners with little or no experience of childcare, who are thinking of a career in Primary, Secondary or a Special School setting.  This L1 qualification is a good introduction to childcare and will give a good grounding for those wishing to undertake the L2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Topics covered:

  • Understanding Play for Early Learning
  • Sharing Learning Experiences with Children
  • Respecting and Valuing Children
  • Supporting Healthy Choices
  • Communicating with Children

There is NO work placement requirement on this course.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Throughout the course you will build up a portfolio of work which is assessed by your tutor against the qualification criteria.  You will be given supportive feedback from your tutor on a weekly basis to help you develop your skills and regular tutorials will ensure you are on track to complete your qualification.  Successful learners will achieve the CACHE L1 Certificate in Caring for Children.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?

To enrol on this course you must hold an Entry 3 Literacy qualification and be willing to continue to work towards L2.

ARE THERE ANY COSTS?

The course costs £60 per term plus a £30 fee for the qualification  and fee remission may apply for those eligible (please ask for details).

WHAT WILL THIS COURSE LEAD TO?

On successful completion, you will be able to enrol onto the L2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or a further childcare qualification at Level 2.
