Duration: 10 Weeks
Attendance: One 2 hour online session per week (1 hour delivery + 1 hour of tutor support time, if required).
This is a term course for learners who are interested in gaining a basic understanding of Website design, planning and development. Great if you are interested in setting up your own business, developing your skills in your current job or to develop your skills for employment or further learning.
- Understanding basic Internet functions and concepts.
- Planning a website’s function, structure and layout.
- Developing fundamental website design skills using CMS (Content Management Systems) in the shape of WordPress.
- Understanding basic HTML coding fundamentals.
- Introduction To Graphic Design for websites.
- Understanding Embedding content from other websites.
How Will I Be Assessed?
This is a non-accredited course, however, linked to the Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA) framework you will be expected to build up a portfolio which will be assessed by your tutor against the course criteria. There will be a variety of activities and it is a great opportunity to interact with new people. You will be given supportive feedback from your tutor on a weekly basis to help you develop your skills. You will receive a certificate to show you have completed the course
What Are The Entry Requirements?
There is an expectation that you will hold an Entry 3 Level qualification in Maths and English, you will also need a basic understanding of computers (i.e. entry-level 2 qualification in IT, or higher). We do offer additional courses if you are interested in developing your English, Maths and IT skills. Please speak to your tutor if you are interested in these or any other courses we offer. Students’ will be required (with guidance, if required) to set up online accounts (e.g. Google, WordPress, Adobe). If you’re not sure if this course is for you, then please contact us to discuss these requirements.
Are there any Technical Requirements?
Yes. The course will be delivered remotely, enabling you to learn from the comfort of your own home. Students will be required to access Google Classrooms to take part (Guidance on setting this up will be provided) so it is essential that students have access to a computer with internet access as well as their own Google/Gmail account. Weekly sessions will be delivered to you via video conference with your tutor (Google Hangouts). If you have access to a webcam and microphone, this could be beneficial but not essential.

No, the course is free of charge.
What Will This Course Lead To?
This is an excellent course to support you in exploring and gaining website development skills and knowledge, to help in the setup and development of a business venture or project. The course will also support the development of skills within your current job or future employment, should you wish to look at career opportunities within the field of digital marketing.
